"Praying with Impact" Col 1:9-14

Pauls shows us 6 ways to pray for someone.

-1. Be filled with the Knowledge of God’s will

-2. Walk in a manner worthy of the Lord.

-3. Bear Fruit in every good work.

-4. Grow in the knowledge of God.

-5. Be Strengthened with all power.

-6. Give thanks to the Father.

Who do you value enough to impact with your prayers?  A child/friend/co-worker/relative/parent/spouse...You should be praying for someone everyday.

Four Healthy Habits For Your Prayer Life"  Matthew 6:5-8

Healthy Habit Number 1

Pray Regularly.(Vs. 5)......Jesus said, "When you pray," not "if you pray."

Healthy Habit Number 2

Pray Privately. (Vs. 6)......When we pray privately -The focus will shift from you to God.

Healthy Habit Number 3

Pray Sincerely.......The truth is we need to just pray from our hearts. Be real with God I promise He can handle it.

Healthy Habit Number 4

Pray Specifically......One way to really enhance your prayer life write your prayers out, a prayer journal.

Matthew 6: 5-8     “Whenever you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites, because they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by people. I assure you: They’ve got their reward!  But when you pray, go into your private room, shut your door, and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.  When you pray, don’t babble like the idolaters, since they imagine they’ll be heard for their many words.  Don’t be like them, because your Father knows the things you need before you ask Him.

“Be Still and Know”  Luke 10:38-42

Our prayer/our Goal

That today/next several weeks you would be challenged

That you would be moved into a closer relationship with Christ.

That you would learn to Listen to Him in ways you never have before.

That you would grow closer to Him that you’ve ever been before.

“The moment you wake up each morning, all your wishes and hopes for the day rush at you like wild

animals.  And the first job each morning consists of shoving it all back, in listening to that other voice,

taking the other point of view, letting that other, larger stronger, quieter life come flowing in.” -CW Lewis-

The enemy is full of these lies

Lie #1: Busy lives equals success
Lie #2: Try prayer after everything else fails
Lie #3: Prayer is unreliable

God is calling us to an abundant life.

A life of Prayer. When God’s people are called back to prayer then the Spirit is poured out and amazing things happen in the body of Christ.

"Intentional Prayer" 1 Kings 19:12-13  1Thess. 5:16-18

Paul recognized and knew the importance of communicating with God (1 Thes. 5:16-18)...Vs. 17 “Pray continually”

Prayer is necessary; because it causes our spirit to be energized and because we encounter God.

Acronym: T R U S T

Thank you.....Begin by thanking Him for who He is and for the Things He has done in your life.

Reveal Yourself.....Ask God to reveal Himself to you in a new way

Use me.....Ask God to use you, to use your gifts/talents that He has blessed you with. Ask Him to use you to make a difference.

Strengthen me.....Ask God to strengthen you for His work. To strengthen you physically, spiritually, mentally.

Teach me.....Ask God to teach you about His word, His will, His ways. John 14:26 Jesus said the Holy Spirit will teach you all things.

How is your prayer life? Are you listening for God?

Step back from the noise/confusion of this life humbly/quietly listen for Him.

"Give God Yout Best"  Mal 1:6-9, Romans 1:12

"Would he be pleased with you? Would he accept you?" Says the Lord Almighty

What we give God reflects our true attitude towards Him.

Does God get your Best or is He getting your leftovers (time, money, service, etc)

We need to offer all of who we are back to the Lord . Laying aside all our own wants and desires. (Rom 1:12)

God has a Good Plan for each of us  (Jeremiah 29:11)

“Prepare for Action” 1 Peter 3: 13-16

Living for God Requires us to ready ourselves for His service.

To live for Him means to be His Ambassador. As ambassadors of God, we are given the opportunity to show His character/love with others.

Your assignment is to represent the King of Kings and deliver His message to the world.

Our assignment is to share the good news of Christ’s salvation to those who don’t know Him.  And seek           to honor and represent our King by the way we live.

We need to be Prepared for Action.....READ: 1Peter 1: 13-16

1st thing we have to understand, God calls us to be holy.  Holiness: Being totally devoted or dedicated to God,

Set aside for His special use and set apart from Sin and it’s influence.

A couple ways Peter prepared:  1st: Be Self Controlled   2nd: Set your hope fully on His grace

3rd: Be Obedient

1Peter 1: 13-16 “Therefore, prepared your minds for action; be self-controlled; set your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed.  As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance.  But just as He who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”

Independence Day   John 8:34-36, Romans 8:2

It was a little over two and a quarter centuries ago that the United States was born.

A nation based on the ideals of liberty, responsibility, Godliness, and the freedom to become what God intended us to become.  This was a new and revolutionary idea.

Today as we worship in security and comfort....we do so because thousands of young soldiers have given their lives and shed their blood for us.

Jesus came in order to bring us True freedom.....READ: John 8:34-36

Later, the Apostle Paul wrote these words.....READ: Romans 8:2

This week we will be celebrating our independence from tyranny and bondage to an oppressive government, an independence won over 200 years ago.

We celebrate an independence, as a nation, but it is temporary. A day will come when we no longer enjoy the freedoms we have.

Two ways that Jesus sets us free if we will only have the faith to believe him.

1st thing Jesus sets us free from Freedom from the Guilt our past that can sometimes haunt us.

2nd thing: Freedom from Consequence.  Christ died in our place We all know that when the law is broken there are consequences.  The Bible teaches that we will all face judgement....READ: Hebrews 9:27

Eternal life is a free gift from God. Not something we earn or something that must be paid back. Its God’s gift to us. If you have not accepted his gift and the freedom it brings, will you do so today?

"What Kind of Father Does God Expect Us to Be?"  Psalm 127

JOSHUA 24:15 “But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD."

Fathers, you have a right to decide what happens in your house. Not only a right, but a responsibility to God and your family to make that decision.

It’s your time to step up and to provide for your family, To provide for them the way God expects.

Sometimes as father’s we can get so carried away about things. Sometimes we let the world -build our house

thinking that we are giving our children the very best Yet we are missing what is important. "The importance of a lasting relationship with Jesus Christ."
